Following our letter writing campaign in support of legislation for young immigrants brought to the U-S when they were very young, we are now taking part in another “pro-life” letter-writing campaign.
Archbishop Schnurr is urging your support of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
This legislation would ban late-term abortions after 20 weeks on the basis that the fetus is capable of feeling pain during abortion at that point of pregnancy. The bill passed the House of Representatives in October of 2017 and is currently pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee under bill number S.1922.
Please join this campaign to write our Senators, urging them to support this common-sense legislation that in many polls 60% of Americans also support.
Archbishop Schnurr writes: “The Church stands with the unborn, their mothers and the majority of Americans in our abhorrence of late-term abortions. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is a wonderful opportunity to protect the lives of unborn children who, according to medical evidence, can feel and respond to pain. It also protects their mothers who could become victims of risky procedures associated with abortions performed after 20 weeks. I ask all Catholics to join me in support of this legislation by contacting your legislators to pass this common-sense law.”
You can get templates for letters to your U-S Senators here, Sen. Sherrod Brown; Sen. Rob Portman. You can also find it in one of the “all-parish” emails that you receive each week.
PLEASE RETURN YOUR LETTERS TO THE PARISH OFFICE so we can mail them…or feel free to mail them yourselves to: Sen. Sherrod Brown, 425 Walnut St. # 2310, Cinti, Ohio 45202; Sen. Rob Portman, 312 Walnut St. #3425, Cinti, Ohio 45202.
Our Lady of the Visitation is promoting the campaign launched by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to help immigrants known as "Dreamers". Please read the letter attached.
