This month's Kudos Corner recognizes Kaye Schroeder

‘Sweet’ ‘Kind’ ‘Loving’ ‘Generous’ ‘An inspiration’ ‘Servant of the Lord’

These are the words that came up over and over from those who were asked to describe Kaye. And for those who know her…you can attest that she seems to always have a smile on her face and a friendly word on her lips.

Kaye has made a huge contribution of her time, talent and treasure here at Visitation. She has been a dedicated member of our St. Vincent de Paul team…conducting home visits and also coordinating gift-giving for their clients at Christmas. She is an active Stephen Minister…having completed the 50 hours of training in the most recent class of ministers. That’s not all. Kaye, a retired oncology nurse, uses that experience to offer support to the Cancer Support Group here. She also volunteers at Good Samaritan Hospital where she holds and comforts babies born to drug-addicted moms. Kaye also volunteers making meals for the sick and volunteers at Holy Family Parish as the school nurse.

Kaye and her late husband Jim joined the parish in 1967 and have four children, many grandchildren and even one great grandchild. Kaye’s favorite pastime is spending time with her family…according to our former Business Manager, Diane Williams, who added, “She is an inspiration to me in the way she lives her faith each and every day simply by being herself. Our parish is blessed to have her as a parishioner and I am blessed to have her as a friend.”

What more can be said?

Kudos Corner thanks and honors Kaye Schroeder for her loving, kind, generous and faithful service as well as example of following Jesus!

This month Kudos Corner recognizes Steve Deiters

This month Kudos Corner Recognizes Steve Deiters.

If you ever worship at the 7:30 Sunday morning Mass…you will definitely recognize the face and voice of Steve Deiters. He has been a regular lector at this Mass for years. Steve also helps lead the rosary before the 9:00 Sunday Masses. You also will see and hear him occasionally when he’s a lector at the 6:30 weekday morning Masses. As a matter of fact, you also might see Steve filling in as a server at that Mass on the rare occasion that an altar boy or girl doesn’t show up!
Steve clearly has a servant’s heart. You would immediately recognize that if you get to know him. He’s been making a positive difference in the parish for a long time!

For the past seven years, Steve has been on the adult RCIA Team. He and his wife Teresa set up the chapel for years on the “Christ Renews” weekends. He also has served on the CRHP Giving Teams and as a volunteer at festivals.

This year, Steve has been helping our Director of Religious Education, Jeanne Hunt, at our Covenant partner St. Leo’s by teaching the Children’s RCIA. Jeanne describes Steve this way: “He is a dedicated and gifted catechist. His witness speaks of his faith with a gentleness and certainty that inspires our kids.”

Steve and his wife Teresa have three adult children: Christie, Nick and Kelly.

Kudos Corner thanks and honors Steve Deiters for his faithful service and Christian example!

This month's Kudos Corner recognizes Lisa Smith

Lisa has very generously given of her time and talents to the parish over the years. She has been a major influence on our youth! If you’ve been involved in any of the plays and musicals over the years…you’ve no doubt seen Lisa. Going back to the early ‘90’s, Lisa first got involved when her kids were in school here. She then started volunteering to choreograph dances for a few of the shows and eventually started directing.

According to teacher Dawn Gruenemeier, “We have done about 12 shows here since the late 90’s, and Lisa was, in some capacity, involved in about 10 of them! For years she just helped out with the musicals because I asked her to. Her children had all graduated from here. She didn’t hesitate to get involved....even knowing it was a major time commitment!”

Thanks to Lisa sharing her love of theater with our youth, no doubt many of them discovered their talents to dance and sing…and then went on to share their talents with many morepeople.

Two of Lisa’s grandchildren are currently in school here and both were in the recent production of Annie Junior. “She is passing on to them her love of theater!” said Gruenemeier.

For a number of years, Lisa also directed Lent Event, the Youth Ministry’s play about the life and passion of Jesus. She also shared her deep passion for the Catholic faith.

Lisa is on the Board of Directors at Pregnancy Center West and has been President the last several years. Before that she was a client advocate.

Mrs. Gruenemeier says, “Lisa is amazing! Her youngest son, Evan, got married 2 weeks before Annie Junior opened and Lisa handled it like a champ. She had an open house at her home in between the wedding and reception. The following week she hosted an event for the Pregnancy Center!”

Lisa has also served several terms on Parish Council and chaired the craft show and Christmas Walk for several years back in the ‘90’s.

She and her husband, Tom, have two daughters and two sons.

Kudos Corner thanks and honors Lisa Smith for her years of faith-filled service!

This month Kudos Corner recognizes Liz Byrum

This month’s Kudos Corner recognizes Liz Byrum.

Liz recently received an award from the parish for “Outstanding Catechist of the Year!”

She has run the Sunday preschool religious education program for at least 7 years according to Jeanne Hunt, our Director of Religious Education. Jeanne says she couldn’t have asked for a better catechist. “Liz has been so dedicated to the program that I haven’t had to give it a second thought.”

As part of her duties, Mrs. Byrum also recruited teachers, handled registration and any problem that could arise. She also supervised teenage volunteers.

Liz and her husband Tim have two daughters, Allison and Sarah.

Jeanne Hunt summed up Liz as the consummate “faithful servant…humble and holy.”

Kudos Corner thanks and honors Liz Byrum for her years of service passing along the faith to new generations!

This month Kudos Corner recognizes Ron Eisenacher

Kudos Corner is a means of acknowledging those in our parish who share their time, talent and treasure to spread the Good News of God's unconditional love. It is intended to lift up and celebrate the actions of individuals and groups within our faith community who touch hearts and make a difference. This month’s Kudos Corner recognizes Ron Eisenacher.

We all are called to use our gifts to spread God’s love and to help build the kingdom of God. To do this…each of us is given certain talents. Ron Eisenacher was given the gift of carpentry…and has he ever shared that gift with our parish!

Ron and his wife Pat joined the parish in 1959. They have two daughters and seven grandchildren. Ron’s career was in construction and he liked doing the custom wood-working involved. So when it came to carpentry needs here at Visitation, Ron has been very generous in sharing his passion.

He was involved in helping board up windows and securing the property after the tornado in 1974. He has made all of the wood furniture on the altar and in the rear of church. He did the trim work after the church was air conditioned and also the votive candle holder. Ron recently made the new “St. Leo’s Food Pantry” box at the church entrance. He put a safety rail with Plexiglas in the balcony of church and built the cabinet to store the bells. He made the cabinet in the church hall as well as shelving and cabinetry in the two offices in church.

That’s not all! Ron designed all of the office furniture in the Parish Office. He made crosses for every classroom in school and the gym. He built the cubbies in grades 1 through 6 and any cabinets the teachers requested. Ron crafted all of the bookcases in the library and remodeled Jeanne Hunt's office. He also made the cabinets and table in the teacher's lounge and the tables in the art room.

“He always went above and beyond whatever we asked of him and has a high work ethic,” said former Business Manager Diane Williams. “He is like St. Joseph the carpenter as he cares so much about each project.”

We are truly grateful for the gift of his hands and the creations from those hands that have benefited so many!

Kudos Corner thanks and honors Ron Eisenacker
